RE: How do you measure system airflow?

So much of what we do requires either measuring or approximating airflow measurement on the entire system (over the evaporator coil) what method or methods do you use?

If you absolutely had to get a system air measurement within 5% of reality on every call what method would you use?

All depends on the system.
If a straight enough duct is available a traverse would be my choice.
However, there are a lot of systems out there that use flex or don’t have a long enough straight stretch to get good accuracy with a traverse. There it can get complicated. A well sealed system could be done with a capture hood or register/grille traverse.
The other method I’m not 100% comfortable with yet is using something like the MQ app and associated inputs. I say I’m not comfortable yet because I don’t have enough time with it.
