RE: How do you measure system airflow?

So much of what we do requires either measuring or approximating airflow measurement on the entire system (over the evaporator coil) what method or methods do you use?

If you absolutely had to get a system air measurement within 5% of reality on every call what method would you use?

Oh nice. I am very glad to hear that about the test smart Hotwire. How often do you use it ? Do you pull it out on maintenance calls or just strictly if you suspect an issue?

I personally don’t do a ton of maintenance.  I do more of our set-up and commissioning.  I think once I profile a piece of equipment, and document the CFM with hot-wire, I then also take multiple static pressure readings to document… So if all that’s done, I think a simple static test is best to compare to the equipment profile and see if there’s a problem that requires further investigation, if that makes sense.
